Worldwide Education and Care are currently recruiting for an Employment Mentor for one of our wonderful Clients in the Barry, Vale OF Glammorgen Area. The role is on a short term contract however could be extended for the right person.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The job description refers to the principal duties and responsibilities of the Post. It does not necessarily list in detail all the tasks required to carry out these duties and responsibilities.

Post Outline:

The Communities for Work plus Employment Mentor will work within the Communities for Work (C4W) plus programme running alongside the Welsh Governments Communities for Work programme. The post holder will have responsibility for providing intensive mentoring to support participants back into work in targeted areas across the Vale of Glamorgan.

MAIN TASKS:

  • To provide job search support and mentoring to people not in employment.
  • To work in conjunction with the local Communities for Work Plus team in the development, implementation and delivery of the Communities for Work Plus programme.
  • To work in conjunction with the local Communities for Work delivery team in the development, implementation and ongoing operation of CfW within the Cluster.

To regularly monitor, collate and update performance management information, reports and other monitoring requirements to ensure all Welsh Government and Council monitoring is accurate and compliant.

To have responsibility for supporting a caseload of clients, using a holistic, enabling and collaborative approach

To provide a flexible service, developing comprehensive support plans with clients and undertake further assessment and regular reviews as appropriate, in collaboration with Cluster teams.

To be involved with the Triage Process within the Communities for Work programme and ensure that all relevant support is accessed and available to the client.

To develop comprehensive individual action plans with clients and undertake further assessment and regular reviews as appropriate

To ensure that all personal data is effectively protected and handled, within locally agreed Information Sharing Protocols.

To support individuals to address broad barriers to work; access to training, education, development opportunities and employment.

To ensure that all records and client files are keep up to date, including inputting into regular Triage meetings.

To work as part of an integrated team with the CfW Plus team and Communities for work team.

To deputise for the CfW plus Coordinator from time to time.

To assist in the development of the Communities for Work programme in the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

To support the CfW Coordinator, to deliver the programme and meet outcomes in line with the CfW plus funding approval.

To work with and provide links for local residents, the private sector and relevant agencies (voluntary and statutory), to gather information on and develop an understanding of the needs of the community and develop their capacity to tackle poverty

To provide finance and monitoring information on allocated projects

To comply with the principles of confidentiality and data protection whilst working alongside residents, including young people and vulnerable adults.

To consult local people, develop projects and initiatives.

Produce progress reports to the C4W Coordinator on a regular basis and adhere to strict deadlines and time scales for production of said reports.

Support the C4W Coordinator to produce funding bids and provide monitoring reports.

To provide support to clients and attend and contribute to meetings as required inclusive of out of hours support at evenings and weekends.

To identify, deliver and assist in the provision of training needs for groups or individuals where relevant.

To share best practise and information on local activities.

Identify any training needs and take advantage of personal and professional development opportunities that are offered.

Responsible for securing the Office and premises as and when required.

Ensure compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and ProceduresTo implement the principles of the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy whilst carrying out the above duties

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3 GCSE grade C-A Including English and Maths.
  • Excellent ICT and Communication Skills
