Job Description: Nursery Assistant / Practitioner

Job Title: Supply Nursery Assistant / Nursery Practitioner
Contract Type: Supply / Temporary (as and when required)
Location: Various nursery settings
Reporting To: Nursery Manager or Senior Nursery Staff on site

 

 

Job Summary:

As a Supply Nursery Assistant or Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for supporting the care, development, and education of children aged 0–5 years within a variety of nursery settings. You will work on a flexible, supply basis to cover staff absences or support busy periods across different nurseries, ensuring a high standard of care and learning is maintained at all times.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of a safe, stimulating, and caring environment for all children.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of daily activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and nursery staff.
  • Follow the policies and procedures of each nursery, including safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour management.
  • Observe and record children’s progress as required by the setting.
  • Support children with personal care, including feeding, changing, and toileting where necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organised environment, including cleaning toys and equipment as needed.
  • Work as part of a team and contribute to the smooth running of the setting.
  • Adhere to the working hours and duties assigned during each placement.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years) – for Nursery Practitioners
  • Experience working with children in a nursery or early years setting
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Flexibility to travel to various nursery locations and adapt to different environments
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic attitude

 

 

Additional Information:

This is a flexible, supply-based role and hours may vary week by week depending on the needs of our partner nurseries. You will be expected to represent Worldwide Education professionally at all times and uphold the values of the nurseries you support.
