Job Title: Supply Cover Supervisor
Contract Type: Supply / Temporary (as required)
Location: Various Secondary Schools (and occasionally Primary)
Reporting To: Senior Leadership Team / Cover Manager / Head of Department

 

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking confident and adaptable Supply Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of school settings. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-set work to classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring pupils remain on task and engaged in their learning.

This is a flexible, supply-based role ideal for individuals with classroom experience, strong behaviour management skills, and a passion for working with young people.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the teacher.
  • Deliver work set by the class teacher in accordance with the school’s policies.
  • Ensure a calm, safe, and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and respond to incidents in line with school behaviour policies.
  • Answer questions and offer assistance to pupils within the scope of the provided work.
  • Report back to the appropriate staff (e.g., class teacher, Cover Manager) on pupil progress or behaviour issues.
  • Ensure students complete the assigned tasks and work to the best of their ability.
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime if required.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude while working across different schools.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting (e.g., classroom support, youth work, sports coaching).
  • Confident classroom presence and effective behaviour management skills.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different subjects and year groups.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to different schools, often at short notice.

 

Desirable:

  • A degree or qualification related to education, childcare, or youth work.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.

 

Additional Information:

This is a supply-based role, and working hours may vary depending on school needs. You may be called upon to work across different year groups and subjects, particularly in Key Stages 3 and 4. As a representative of Worldwide Education, you are expected to maintain professionalism and uphold the values of the schools you support.
