Job Description: Team Leader
Reports to: Nursery Manager
Salary: £29,120.00 per annum
The role holder will be required to travel to other settings or locations as required by the company and will be expected to provide support at other sites.
Role Purpose:
The Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day running of the rooms comprising their team and, as a member of the Nursery Management Team, supporting the management team in leading the setting to ensure that high-quality childcare is provided to all. This role profile is not exhaustive, and the Team Leader is expected to fulfil any duty as required for the effective running of the setting.

Key Accountabilities:
Early Years
Act as a role model for the Early Years, ensuring that the EYFS is implemented and followed throughout the team to an exemplary standard.
Engage with the Nursery Management Team to understand and comply with registration and legislative requirements, including any requirements outlined by Ofsted.
Fulfil the role of a key-person to an exemplary standard, providing a positive role model for team members.
Ensure that all nursery initiatives are fully embedded, being a lead on at least one Early Years initiative or working party across the company.
Be the first point of contact for any parent queries for children in the rooms comprising your team.
Adhere to and role model best practice safeguarding requirements.
Carry out audits within the team.
People
Provide day-to-day leadership and management for the team and staff across the nursery as required.
Be involved in the recruitment of staff, including but not limited to, shortlisting, interviewing, and observing safer recruitment practices.
Observe best practice and legislative requirements in all areas of employment and equality legislation.
Take responsibility for team members’ induction and probation.
Support the Nursery Management Team with employment relations issues such as probation reviews, flexible working, grievances, attendance management, and disciplinary issues.
Support the Nursery Management Team with the implementation of the Company’s performance management cycle, carrying out supervisions and appraisals accordingly.
Identify training needs and support with the training and development of the staff team.
Be the first point of contact for any staffing issues or requests, including requests for time off.
Carry out return-to-work meetings following periods of absence.
Take responsibility for the staffing rota.
Finance
Support the Nursery Management Team with invoicing, bad debt, and payroll queries.
Develop a working understanding of budgets and manage a small team budget.
Health and Safety
Adhere to legislative and Company requirements in relation to health and safety.
Proactively manage risk in the nursery and role model safe working practices.
Marketing
Support the Nursery Management Team in achieving occupancy targets and engaging in wider partnership objectives through the implementation of marketing strategies for the nursery.
Assist in the effective use of social media and other marketing activities as required.
Carry out show rounds for prospective parents and lead the team to present an appropriate image of the nursery during show rounds, including staff engagement with prospective parents.
Building/Utilities Maintenance
Ensure all building and maintenance issues are followed up and well managed.
Take responsibility for the toys, equipment, and overall standards of presentation within the team.
Requirements:
Full and relevant Early Years qualification
Full understanding and working knowledge of the EYFS
Full understanding of the Ofsted inspection framework
Experience of leading a team and dealing with staff issues
Comprehensive understanding of health and safety requirements
Working knowledge of equal opportunities legislation
Safeguarding training
Paediatric first aid
Satisfactory DBS check
Desirable:
A higher Early Years qualification, or willingness to study
Management/leadership qualification, or willingness to study
